The “Employable Skills Development Program - 2012” has been an effort by SGI in order to serve for the development of employable skills for the unemployed youth whereby respective trainers had provided skills trainings to the registered unemployed youth within this program.
This program has been a initiative taken by the Sharda Group of Institutions at its Hindustan Engineering Campus and Anand Engineering Campus in collaboration with NIESBUD (National Institute for Entrepreneurship & Small Business Development).
NIESBUD is an apex institute in the area of entrepreneurship and small business development under the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Government of India. The basic objects for the establishment of Institute NIESBUD are promotion and development of micro, small and medium enterprises including enhancement of their competitiveness through different activities.
The program was designed and delivered in a way such that the trainees could get practical hands-on exposure on the subject trade as well as theoretical learning through experts and with the help of computer and multimedia. For this purpose, Hindustan & Anand campuses’ classrooms and lab facilities were utilized and the efforts of the SGI cell were to also assist these unemployed trained youth to provide them the required technical training so that they can get employment or get self-employed in the respective training areas. Admissions to the program were open to all after clearing of an admission test which tested their commitment and learning abilities.
The program mainly aimed at providing employment based technical expertise to the financially weak and unemployed youth so that with this learning of self-interest trade and subject, they can find themselves employment to sustain their living and make them self-dependent.
Program Statistics & Results:
Initially a cryptic analysis of primary data was done by conducting a survey by grouping the villages in three clusters for Agra (Keetham region), Mathura (Pingari region) and Greater Noida region.
The villages were divided in clusters with Cluster-1 near Hindustan College comprising villages: Pingari, Meghpur, Begampura & Bheemnagar and Cluster-2 near Anand College comprising villages: Keetham & Singhana.
The Greater Noida region was dealt as a separate cluster for the third trade of Diesel Fuel Injection trainings.
Boys and girls of the age bracket from 15 to 35 years in respective villages were surveyed for inputs like landholding for source of income, qualification to analyze trades, qualification for training, employment sources, local infrastructure and program feasibility.
From the sample data of 432 people, interested people were counted as 311 out of which 207 were male and 104 were female.
Several inputs were also collected for records like female priority was on locally based cluster training centers thus reducing travel. The maximum number of interested candidates were either pursuing high school or higher secondary. Counseling of each candidate was done to understand their mind frames for finalizing the respective trades.
The skills trainings were imparted to the registered unemployed youth at “Free of Cost basis” and they were Technically Trained to serve as Skilled Technicians who can directly work in the related industries as skilled workforce thus contributing to the technical manpower.
The duration of this program was three months with several batches of which the first one had started from 16th April, 2012 and completed till 15th July, 2012 and youth of the age 15 years to 35 years have got benefited through these trainings.
Around 180 - 200 students got benefited under this CURRENT program in the mentioned 3 (three) trades, viz: 1. Electrical gadgets repairing (including repair of household electrical/electronic equipments like fan, cooler, electric iron, microwave, television, radio, electrical wiring/fitting, etc.).
2. Compressor repairing (which included compressor of window/split air-conditioner, deep freezer, refrigerator and other types).
3. Diesel Fuel Injection with equal registrations in the SC/ST and the General/OBC categories.
Considering the focus of the Central and State Governments in the areas of Skills Development & Vocational Trainings, thus providing employment opportunities to the youth and eradicating unemployment & poverty through various initiatives, Sharda Group has been working in close sync over several initiatives of the type.
In future, SGI Offers to organize such Skilled Knowledge and Vocational Training Programs in more number of Trades & sectors thus catering to all type of industries’ with scope in a wide range of around 15 areas and sectors, namely: Automobile & Motor Mechanic/Diesel, Construction & Plumbing, Computer Hardware, Networking & Software Development, Welding, Fitter & Foundry, Electronic & Electrical Technicians, Chemical Instrument/Equipment Mechanic & Plant Operator, Retail & Tourism, Bio Fertilizer, Bio Pesticides & Organic Food, Leather & Footwear Technology and various other much coveted and niche areas.
