Computer skill is necessary with higher level of general knowledge. A GIS professional requires sharp academic and a creative approach to identify programming methods suited to specific requirements.

Geography includes a lot of mathematical and statistical work, so 10+2 or equivalent with Geography and Mathematics is essential. Student of art stream are also eligible for some courses in this sector.
